Mapping

  • When trying to map an address, I get a vague map with many dots on it. I cannot locate the property or even the street that I am trying to map.

This usually comes up when trying to map an address that does not have the zip + 4, or it may come up when you are trying to map a parcel that does not have a house number.

Also, use the map options on the tool bar to display the range of properties that you are working with.

  • When I do a radius search in CRISS + CROSS REAL ESTATE I keep getting the error, "Radius search ignored due to invalid subject property Lat/Lon Value."

When doing a radius search make sure that the property that you are basing the search on has a ZIP + 4 zip code. Also, if you are searching on the new property, it may not be coded by the mapping company that we use.

Hint: If the property does not have a ZIP + 4 zip code try to find a nearby property or street that does have a ZIP + 4 zip code and base your radius from that address.

  • Why do I get the message, "Please insert a valid Haines CD?"

There could be a few reasons why you are getting this message:

1.                   Check to make sure that there are no scratches, smudges, or fingerprints on the CD that is preventing it from being read correctly. Please clean the CD with a soft cloth.

2.                   Give your computer time to read the information from the CD before you try to access the program

3.                   Make sure that the program (Gold CD) is inserted. The transfers CD cannot be used for any search.

4.                   Go to MY COMPUTER and try to go to your CD-Rom drive and access the CD. If you get an error saying, “CD-Rom drive is not accessible,” try other data CD’s (they do not need to be CRISS + CROSS CD’s). If you are still receiving the error, “CD-Rom drive is not accessible,” your CD-Rom drive may need cleaned or replaced.

  • Can I save information in CRISS CROSS REAL ESTATE V3?

Yes.  You can save the records that have been obtained after your search to a FARM AREA by going to FILE\SAVE AS FARM AREA.  Also, you can save the criteria used to do the search.  After selecting criteria that you would like to begin your search on, go to FILE\SAVE CURRENT CRITERIA.

  •  How do I delete a farm area in Real Estate V3?

Highlight the farm area, but do not select it.  Press the backspace button. The farm area is now deleted.

  • Why don't addresses in the directory match county addresses?

There are many reasons.  Some of the most common are:

    1) There are multiple addresses on one parcel of property (for example, strip mall and shopping centers, commercial buildings, multi-family properties and apartment buildings).

    2) The county doesn't use the same address as the post office.

     a) A house on a corner where the county used one street address and the post office used the address from the intersecting street.

    b) When the county hasn't put the house number on their file and the owners knows what it is going to be and uses it for their postal address (new construction).

    c) The county uses the highway number for the street name and the post office uses the local street name.

    d) One of the records has the wrong city and zip appended.

    3) The property is outside the county limits and shows because it shares a common zip with properties within the county.

  • How do I add records to a DO-NOT CALL list in CRISS CROSS PLUS REAL ESTATE V3?

After doing the search, tag those parcels to be added to the DNC list. Afterwards, go to “RECORD”, “ADD TO DO NOT CALL/ DO NOT MAIL”.

  •  Will the CRISS CROSS REAL ESTATE V3 run on a MAC?

Even though the program could be installed and run on a PC emulator for MAC. it is not recommended to because of reliability.

  • When I run the new TRANSFER CD it says, “No updates found in specified location.”

Take out the TRANSFER CD and put in the PROGRAM CD that has the “R” number on it into the CD-Rom drive. Go into each county that is on the CD. Run the TRANSFER CD again.

  • I received the following Error Message:  “This program has performed an Illegal Operation.”  What do I do?

Close out of program and reboot. If that doesn’t fix the problem, try reinstalling.  If that does not correct the error, call Technical Support at 1-800-697-4550.  Have your CD number and Company Name found on your CD available.

Printing

  • What do I select when I want to print 4 postcards per page in Real Estate?

In Real Estate, this can be accomplished by clicking on the print icon, select the Mailing tab, and in the Label/Format box choose postcard 2x2.

  • Why do I have printing problems?

Criss+Cross Plus® Real Estate uses the operating system’s files, which in turn calls your printer driver to do the actual printing or to render output.

In this process, many things can go wrong. First, there may be a problem with your printer driver. Drivers go through the life cycle of software: namely, maintenance release, maturity, they grow obsolete, and finally are discontinued.

You can expect that drivers that are on either end of the cycle will have more problems than drivers that are in their maturity stage.

Many printers that are still used today have drivers that were developed for Windows 3.1 and apparently never tested under and certified by their manufacturer for Windows 95 or higher. Sometimes the driver works without problems; unfortunately, it often does not.

There is a quick way to determine whether the problem is with Criss+Cross Plus® Real Estate or with the driver. If you see a correct preview but the printed output is wrong, the problem is with the driver which apparently understands your commands and executes them correctly, but does not have good control over its printing hardware. Similarly, if your application prints correctly to 20 different printers but has problems with one particular device, Criss+Cross Plus® Real Estate most likely is not the culprit.

Transfers

  • Should I throw away my Property Data CD when I receive a new Transfer CD?

No. The Transfer CD only has the most current transfers on it. It updates the counties that you are licensed to use on your hard drive. When the update is complete, the Transfer CD should be safely stored. The Property Data CD should then be used for all your searches.

  •  How long should I keep the Property Data CD when I get a replacement?

After receiving a new Property Data CD and verifying that it works, the old one can be thrown away. Some customers like to save the older one and use it as a backup in the event that the new one gets scratched. If this should happen, call Technical Support for assistance in using the old one.

  •  Why does my CD expire?

The Property Data CDs are designed to expire within 120 days. This should provide sufficient time for you to receive your new Property Data CD.

  •  Why is it when I run the Transfer CD that no counties are found?

You must search your Property Data CD at least one time before running the Transfer CD.

  • When I run the Transfer CD, why does it say that no counties need to be updated at this time?

There can be two reasons for this: First, the Transfer CD has already been run; second, your Property Data CD already has the correct transfers on it.

  • Why do I get the message to insert a valid Haines CD when I already have my CD in the drive?

Ensure that you have the Property Data CD and not the Transfer CD in the drive. Also, ensure that the CD doesn’t have fingerprints or scratches on it.

  •   Do I have to take the CD out of my drive when I turn off my computer?

No. As a matter of fact, if you don’t use your drive for other CDs, just leave it in the drive. There is less chance of damage to the CD if you can avoid handling it.

  • My Real Estate program worked yesterday. Why does it say that a file is out of date when I try to run it today?

It is possible that you loaded new software from another vendor. If that program did not verify that the files it is loading are newer than the files already on the hard drive, then you will receive the error message that a file is out of date. Call Technical Support for assistance.

  • What does it mean when I start the program I receive a message that my CD-ROM or license has expired?

Your CD-ROM is more than 120 days old, be certain that you are using your newest Property Data CD. Your license expires at the end of your lease period. If you've received a new license or key disk(3 1/2" floppy) you may update your license by deleting the file c:\windows\ccprwin.ini & reinstalling Criss+Cross RE.
